What You'll Learn

Experimental Passage Analysis

Learn how to identify the research question, hypothesis, independent and dependent variables, controls, experimental groups, methods, results, and conclusions without getting buried in unnecessary details.

Pathways & Relationships

Learn how to simplify complicated signaling pathways, gene regulation systems, metabolic relationships, and protein interactions into relationships you can actually reason through.

Instead of trying to memorize an entire pathway, you'll learn to track:

A ↑ → B ↓ → C ↑

and use those relationships to predict what happens when the experiment changes the system.

Data & Figure Interpretation

Learn how to approach graphs, tables, Western blots, experimental figures, and unfamiliar datasets systematically.

You'll practice distinguishing between:

• What the data directly shows

• What can reasonably be concluded from the data

• What the experiment does not establish

Passage-Based Reasoning

Learn how to combine passage information with your existing biology and biochemistry knowledge.

You'll practice recognizing when a question requires:

content knowledge,
passage information,
data interpretation,
or a combination of all three.

Build a Repeatable B/B Passage System

Dense experimental passages can feel overwhelming because they introduce unfamiliar proteins, pathways, abbreviations, techniques, and results all at once.

The goal isn't to memorize everything.

It's to determine what matters and how the pieces relate.

Throughout the Bootcamp, you'll develop a structured approach for:

• Identifying the purpose of an experiment

• Tracking variables and controls

• Mapping biological relationships

• Interpreting experimental results

• Reading graphs and figures efficiently

• Working through unfamiliar laboratory techniques

• Connecting passage information to foundational science

• Recognizing what a question is actually asking

• Eliminating answers that go beyond the evidence

• Managing complex passages under timed conditions

Learn B/B by Doing B/B

This isn't designed to be hours of passive biology lectures.

You'll actively work through passages, experiments, figures, and questions, then break down the reasoning behind them.

When you miss a question, the goal isn't simply to learn why the correct answer was correct.

You'll learn to ask:

What did I miss?

Was it a content gap?

Did I misunderstand the experiment?

Did I overlook something in the passage?

Did I misinterpret the graph?

Did I make an inference the data didn't support?

Did I misunderstand what the question was asking?

Identifying the type of error makes it much easier to prevent the same mistake from happening again.
